Mastering Low Key – From Lighting to Grading" is a comprehensive 1 day workshop designed to explore different lighting techniques. Esteemed Cinematographer Moustafa Fahmy will dive into a detailed analysis of camera setups and lighting, with hands-on practice in shaping lights, shadows, and testing different lighting setups. The session also covers colour grading by workflows by the renowned color grading artist Ahmed Essam. He will cover points from LUT creation to effective collaboration between the Director of Photography and Colourist.

This workshops is for intermediate/advanced Filmmakers who have deeper understanding of filmmaking roles, lighting knowledge, and who previously worked on their own projects.

About the Instructors:

Mostafa Fahmy:

Mostafa Fahmy is a cinematographer who is passionately working to share visions with directors around the globe. Working on a wide variety of genres including films, drama, music videos, TV commercials, and charity projects. His passion for cinema and filmmaking has inspired him to always learn new methods and find innovative ways for storytelling. Establishing a well-known name in the Filming industry in Egypt and the Middle East, Fahmy has worked on over 100 projects with top-notch filmmakers.

 

Ahmed Essam: 

Ahmed Essam is a color grading artist from Egypt. Since infancy; Art has been his getaway. He exerts a delicate balance of his artistic vision combined with detailed-focused execution. Professionally crafting the tone and mode producing a perfectly drawn meaning of the story. The diversity of his work adds to his vision, with more than 60 well-known movies such as “Welad Rizk |||”, “Kira & Gin”, “Blue Elephant ||”, and “Diamond Dust”, alongside with numerous commercials and TV series such as Netflix’s “Paranormal” ,“Finding Ola”, Shahid’s Original “Sukar” and “Cypher”. His understanding of how colors can amplify emotions stems from his study in color psychology.
